Media training
Media interview skills amongst South African business leaders are strong, but few spokespeople are accomplished market commentators. This is one of the key findings from Corpcom research conducted amongst leading South African business journalists:
Big is better
Large corporates, both listed and private handle media interviews the best and are on a par with their global counterparts in investing in media competenceSpokespeople from midsized and smaller companies are less competent than their larger counterparts when dealing with the mediaIn general, public sector and parastatal organisations are less proficient than the private sector
Where's the story?
Company spokespeople focus on building up technical interview skills rather than storytelling skillsEven the best commentators are not able to provide market insights, perspectives and analyses and are often exclusively focused on telling their company story
