Areva Resources Southern Africa

Delta Airlines
Delta Airlines is the world’s largest airline. From its hubs in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York-JFK, Salt Lake City and Tokyo-Narita, Delta, its NWA subsidiary and Delta Connection carriers offer service to more than 376 destinations worldwide in 66 countries and serve more than 170 million passengers each year.  Delta and its 75,000 worldwide employees are the only U.S. airline to offer a full global network.  CCC arranges for publicity around Delta’s announcements which are relevant to South Africa.

Dylan Lewis
Local and internationally-renowned sculptor Dylan Lewis is one of a handful of artists who has had a solo exhibition in Christie’s in London, and who’s work is owned by royalty and captains of industry worldwide. He currently has his “Shapeshifting” exhibit in The Rupert Museum in Stellenbosch until April 2009. Dylan’s big break came when Johan Rupert commissioned him to design sculptures for the Leopard Creek Country Club’s golf course after Gaynor Rupert gave Johan a Dylan Lewis bronze leopard’s head. He is considered to be one of the world’s best sculptors of the animal form, especially of his beloved big cats.

Freedom Challenge
Launched in 2003, the Freedom Challenge is an initiative to achieve the following goals:

  • Establish the Freedom Trail, a fully serviced mountain bike trail running across the interior of South Africa and to develop services around the trail.
  • To organise an annual event on the Freedom Trail in order to publicise it.
  • To support community-based conservation and adventure tourism projects along the Freedom Trail.

JSE

At the JSE, companies from across the spectrum of industry and commerce gather to raise the public capital that allows them to expand and create jobs, services and opportunities.

OECD Conference
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in collaboration with the Development Bank of Southern Africa, has established a Network of Southern African State-owned Enterprises (SOE) to coordinate policy dialogue at the sub-regional level in order to strengthen corporate governance in SOEs.  The Network held its first meeting in Cape Town from 6th to 7th May 2008, and was attended by 40 of the most prominent, active and influential policy makers, practitioners and experts on corporate governance of SOEs in Southern Africa.  CCC arranged the pre- and post-conference publicity.

On Digital Media
On Digital Media (ODM) is a newly licenced pay-TV broadcast company which will launch its offering to subscribers in the second half of 2009. Offering choice and affordability, ODM will allow its subscribers to create their own bouquets based on their personal viewing preferences. As such, there will be no channel wastage and subscribers will only pay for what they want to watch.

Zurich Insurance
Zurich in South Africa is a short-term insurance company headquartered in Johannesburg and listed on the JSE. Founded in 1965, it offers insurance products and services that respond to the needs of individual, commercial and corporate customers. It has a network of 11 sales areas and a series of service outlets across the country, and employs approximately 1,000 people. In addition, it has subsidiaries locally as well as in Botswana and Zimbabwe.

The Zurich Financial Services Group is an insurance-based financial services provider with a global network of subsidiaries and offices in North America and Europe as well as in Asia Pacific, Latin America and other markets. Founded in 1872, the Group is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. It employs approximately 60,000 people serving customers in more than 170 countries.

World Petroleum Congress 2005 – publicity for the event and co-ordination of media interviews

Corporate Social Investment Initiative
DSM Nutritional Products – CCC staged a magical tea party for the Johannesburg Children’s Home (JHC) and Nurturing Orphans of Aids for Humanity (NOAH) to promote the use of Teavigo in Clover’s Manhattan Iced Tea and products of their other alliance partners. The event also aimed to provide a fun and contrary event for the benefit of the children from JHC and NOAH and children visiting the Square with their parents on the day.

Scenario planning
The Gauteng Super-Highway Consortium – CCC was involved in helping the consortium prepare for potential crises, plan for different scenarios and prepared spokespeople for any eventuality.

Internal Communications Initiative
Ingwe Collieries (part of BHP Billiton) 2005 - CCC conducted a Communications Audit at six colliery sites as well as at Ingwe’s head office to determine current communication status quo regarding culture of communication. Based on the Communications Audit, CCC compiled a communications strategy and action plans to be adopted by the Collieries.

Large Publicity Campaign
Discovery Everest Expedition 2003 – extensive publicity around a team of South Africans which made an Everest summit attempt on the 50th anniversary of the first conquering of the world’s highest peak. Voted the Best Media/Publicity Relations campaign in the 2003 Financial Mail PRISA PRISM Awards.

International event with local publicity
Laureus World Sports Awards – for two years in succession (Monaco and Portugal), organised publicity for the awards which honour the achievements of the world's greatest sportsmen and women on an annual basis.

Global Conference held in South Africa
Gary Hamel and John Kotter – publicity, project supervision and management of guru seminars, events designed to ensure sustainable competitive advantage during changing times.

Community liaison and publicity
N2 Wild Coast Toll Road – gave advice on Environmental Impact Assessment, conducted media training for spokespeople, created Q&A’s for spokespeople covering both content and presentation thereof and assisted with crisis communication plans.

Global Event Publicity & Media Co-ordination
Waterdome – CCC co-ordinated the local publicity and international journalists. This was an official side event to the World Summit on Sustainable Development held in Johannesburg during 2002.

Co-ordination and publicity for Royal Visit
International Awards Forum - liaison with the International Awards Association and the President’s Award of SA in preparation for the visit to this country of their Royal Highnesses, Prince Philip & Prince Edward of the United Kingdom in November 2000, as well as the visit in July 2002 by HRH The Earl and Countess of Wessex.
